Gabriella's whole world changes when she is attacked by wild ferals shifter that take a chunk out of her shoulder before driving her over a cliff.

She wakes up in a small cottage with a older grumbly bear shifter who claims that she is the heir to an ancient totem that has the ability to turn a shifter's body into dust and send their soul to the eternal hunting grounds and she needs to kill him so that he can finally be relieved of his burdern.

Ten years later after accomplishing grueling amounts of traning Gabriella has made peace with her brother and her past...though she changes her name to Gabe... and with his blessing begins to travel seeing the world and all the beauty that is has to offer and making some good friends along the way

However, trouble in the shifter world is being stirred up by a group of shifters who call themselves the 'The Order of Light' whose goal it is to break down the wall between the world of the living and the eternal hunting grounds in order to retrieve their lost love ones whom they feel died unjustly before their time.

As a guardian of the gate between the two Gabe cannot under any circumstances allow herself to be captured and forced to use her sword which is one of seven keys to destroy the delicate balance that has been established since the swords came into being.

Knowing that she can't fight off 'The Order of Light' on her own Gabe returns home hoping that with the help of her brother she can keep herself safe long enough to figure out a way to stop the zelots.

However, returning to her brothers side sets off a series of events that will challenge her beliefs, her heart, and her convinction to the sword that she was choosen to weild.

But, there is more than looming threats to the safety of all realms; the king's sons are caught in their own games and aren't averse to getting someone killed. Willow's had to fight to get to where she is now. She doesn't need anyone telling her what to do or how to do it. Her life is perfect the way it is, but it's near impossible for her to fulfill her wants of keeping her independent lifestyle. For starters, Willow isn't even human; she's a Volpe (fox-shifter), but being a Volpe is more complicated than simply being able to shift into a fox. For thousands of years, there were only humans and for those thousands of years, they killed each other over the color of their skin. But that was then. Now shifters are an everyday part of life and no one cares about the color of a person's skin: it's their species, and it's even worse than it was between humans and the levels of melanin in their skin. Volpes are the most hated of all the species. Supposedly cunning and deceitful to many, they are discriminated against and viewed as nuisances. Lupos (wolf-shifters) hate them most of all, with Volpes returning the favor. Lupos - with their powerful packs and Alphas throughout the world - have the obvious social advantage over Volpes, but that doesn't stop the world from turning and the natural course of events to happen. Every shifter will eventually find and bond to a person who compliments them in every sense for no other reason than a cruel twist of their reproductive biology. With little to no conscious decision as to who their "mate" will be, two shifters - two strangers - are forced together, their fates forever intertwined because of a chance encounter. To many, this is seen as a blessing, but to Willow, a so-called "soul-mate" is the farthest thing from her mind. Will the sparks fly or will the fists fly when she realizes that a member of the very species she resents so passionately is her mate? How can a Lupo ever be with a Volpe when all they see each other as are the harmful stereotypes of their species? How will their bond evolve into something that uncovers secrets decades in the making?

Finding out that your parents, the people that raised you your whole life, weren't your actual parents was hard. Being told at the ripe ol' age of eighteen that you're the last living member from an Ancient Shifter line, the one responsible for creating the First Shifters, was inconceivable. Especially when a group of assassins were on their way to exterminate me simply for just existing. Kidnapped from my bed by three extremely stunning and grumpy Alphas, and forced to attend a special Shifter University located in the middle of nowhere, I have to navigate an unfamiliar and unknown secreted world while simultaneously trying avoiding those who want to use my lineage to enact an age-old curse. Join Nova Nyx as she's dragged into a world full of Shifters, Secrets, and Startling Surprises. ~~~ "Mates?" I repeated owlishly, blinking rapidly at the one worded bomb they just dropped on me "What are Mates?" Instead of answering my question, they just stared back at me in silence, arms crossed over their broad chests. I ignored their silence, choosing to focus on second part of their sentence. "And you're telling me I have three of them?" I gawked "How many are you supposed to get? I can barely handle myself and my life at this point and you want me to worry about three other people?" Of course the most annoying man I've ever met smirked at my bafflement. "I don't think it'll be such a hardship for you" he said, arrogance lacing his tone "After all, I hear these three Mates of yours are very self-sufficient." "Don't forget extremely gorgeous" his Buffon of a friend chimed in, winking at me "That's a plus for you Princess." "One," the third one growled out at me, finally speaking up and adding subsistence to the conversation, startling the banter from the other two "You're only supposed to be blessed with one Mate in your entire lifetime."
