After hundreds of years of chaos there is finally peace. Humans are now grown in a lab, crafted with perfect, compliant genes as a way of preserving control. With the GROWN program, war, pollution, and death are easily snuffed out by planning who people are and what they grow up to be. The only problem that remains is the rebellion, a small kindling from the old world that refuses to be extinguished. 

Lane was confiscated by the Council at the age of eight due to being a natural born human. She has spent the past sixteen years learning the ways of the GROWN and being rewired to fit in seamlessly with her lab developed counterparts. Because of her successes in training, Lane has been selected to be an Extinguisher, one of the most dangerous jobs in the Council. This team is sent back to the time before the GROWN program to track down the family of rebellion members and assassinate them to keep the rebellion isolated in the past and eradicate it in the present.  

While struggling to prove herself worthy of such a position to her superior officer, Lane grapples with her own doubts if becoming one of the GROWN and serving the Council is the right thing to do, or just the best for self-preservation. She soon learns that the past is always doomed to repeat itself if power remains the ultimate motivator.

Though the rebels may have failed all those years ago, they have suddenly returned with increasing numbers and support. Nor doesn't believe that the rebel's agenda is to liberate the people, but something far more sinister. Her suspicions are soon confirmed, and she is forced to flee for her life. On the run from the quickly approaching rebel army, Nor begins to search for the family that she lost long ago. Her journey will lead her into unexpected dangers, and even to an unexpected love. Not everything is as it seems, and soon the strange events that are slowly untangling within Nor's world will make her question her very reality.

Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. Before the fall of Earth humanity built a great colony ship, ten thousand of the colonist left Earth for a hundred year journey to Gillespie. They came from all over the Earth leaving a planet knowing they would never see another in their lifetime. The Ark is a rotating cylinder the size of a large island with its own train system. It's divided into three main sections, the city, the framlands, and the Lowers. The people are divided into three groups as well, Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Uppers are made of elite scientist, Astro-crops, bureaucrats they made up about 3% of the population. The Middles are are the farmers, the guard, teachers, doctors, the food processors, clothes makers and of course the mechanical maintenance workers. They make-up the 97% of the 10,000 counted citizens. The lowers are criminals and children born to un-paired parents. They live separated from the middles and Upper. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Falling in love is hard enough falling in love in space that the story.

Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on.
