The executives at their old recording label wants them to record some new tunes for a 20th anniversary album and go on a reunion tour to support it. The Monkees finally hit the big time. They score a recording contract and a national tour, and become a sensation. Even as they sell millions of records and play to packed concert halls, however, they struggle for artistic and creative freedom, control of their image, respect from the music industry and critical acclaim. There are also tensions within the band, and Micky and Gabby quietly work to hold everyone together as the family they have become. In the meantime, everyone's personal life is on the ascendancy, with relationships and commitments becoming solidified and promises being fulfilled.
