I'm posting this looking for some feedback. Any constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated. Writing has always provided me with solace, by helping me to sort through and frame my emotional experience. During one of the more difficult times in my life--recognizing a toxic marriage and leaving--I used writing to understand what was happening. The poems, short stories, and essays here reflect my fragmented journey toward mental health. Works of art, they are not. However, I hope they can help others with their own journeys, even if only to provide comfort in knowing that they are not alone. An abstract, autobiographical coming-of-age story written in poetic prose that chronicles my journey from adolescent to adult by delving into my mind and my subconscious. It focuses on my mental state in my overcoming trials relating to loneliness, anxiety, depression, and existential dread by exploring key themes such as identity, love and existence. Originally written as a diary, my hope is that the work will assist in breaking down stigmas relating to sex, drugs, Asperger's, mental illness and male vulnerability.
