Birds are some of the most diverse creatures to ever live. They are very intelligent, too, some even using tools and speaking small snippets of human words. Some can see a greater range of colors than we can, and outsmart us in some facets of object-permanence. In The Aviary, though, some birds have more powers than just that. There are fire pheasants, birds with bright plumage that can shoot fire from their beaks. There are speaking grey cockatoos, able to quickly and efficiently learn languages. There are fanged vultures, people-sized creatures that can crush bones in their jaws. But most mysteriously there are the witching birds, unlike anything anyone has ever hoped to see...

When he's sober, he's the greatest guy to be around. When drunk, he's someone to avoid. Liz learned at a young age it was better to be seen and not heard. When Sir got drunk, Liz stayed in her room and struggled to be quiet so she didn't draw attention to herself. She began using her imagination at a young age to self soothe. Liz had a full family, who were loving and supporting in her imaginary world. As she got older, her imaginary world changed. Gone were the fantastical beasts from her childhood, sand replaced with her imaginary perfect family, perfect boyfriend, perfect everything. When things got tough, Liz escaped reality. Now, as an adult, wife and mother, when tragedy strikes she finally needs to learn to live fully in the real world. Can she give up her perfect world?

They go in a magical place in the sky known as the Sky Tree, a tree that's so massive and has been there for thousands of years, an entire civilization of intelligent birds and tree-dwelling creatures live their lives up there! Not much is known about the Sky Tree's origins, though. Some of the animals befriended up there are Lieutenant Anto, a kestrel who defends the creatures of the Sky Tree and two bat twins known as Dalos and Kraelos who are very skilled at building. Daisy and Maxwell might feel safe thousands of feet in the clouds with their new friends they befriend at the Sky Tree, but there's danger that lurks down from the very ground people live on... A highly classified government project that could endanger the lives of the Sky Tree civilians and the two children!

When you were born, they were white, but they changed to all colours of the rainbow given what kind of life you live, from a light yellow to a dark blue. However, in this time, only stumps are left, coloured in a muddy grey. No one remembers why humans left their wings, and no one cares anymore.
