In the near-future, the earth has been rocked by repeated strikes from debris left by the tail of a passing comet. Civilization is collapsing. People are desperate.

A leader, Adin, has emerged to care for countless millions of refugees through his NGO, The Kingdom. He is the hope for mankind. When an assassin shoots Adin in the head while he addresses the United Nations in New York, Adin's mentor, the contemplative Abbott Ben Keating, comes to his surgical bed at Mt. Sinai Hospital to witness not just Adin's miraculous recovery, but the genesis of a new being: the fusion of human mind with a powerful artificial intelligence (AI).

What Rough Beast follows the rise to power of this cyborg savior. The story unfolds through the experiences of Ben, as he tries to deter his pupil from his increasingly Messianic and dictatorial path; and of a family in Boulder, Colorado, refugees themselves from the growing lawlessness, who clash with Adin's growing ambitions.

This story isn't science fiction. It's prophecy.

"I want to create a better world where no one hurts each other, to foster a place where love doesn't have to make hate, where no one hurts or kills anybody. A world where I don't have to hurt anybody anymore." The First Dawn has concluded; Children of Blight are running rampant, and the last remaining Bastions of humanity are searching and killing for them for their last chance to find one to restore the earth. The World Capital stands above everyone, with a shadow government smothering the people. The power balance has been tipped for a century now- then came a girl named Armageddon, changing the world forever. Lydia Armageddon, born on the nuclear fronts of the decimated America, was sold to be a child soldier of The World Capital and is found out as a Child of Blight, her trait being named 'Convergence.' The world is at risk of war once more, with the starting gun being fired for the race to control her. Subject to all matters of mutilation, violation, and experimentation, she escapes Blight Laboratories and finds that the world outside is no better than the months she spent in captivity. Hatred for humanity forms, and a monster is coming to be, slowly, just as a fanatical religion predicted all those years ago. Father like daughter. Until she decides to rob an old man sleeping by a fire with an empty gun, not knowing her life was about to be changed forever. The world prepares for the second dawn as Armageddon's child is born-their saviour. The world looks red, and Armageddon is there in the middle of it all, atop a mountain of corpses upon Mother Earth's flesh. March 17th, 2157: A family of three Children of Blight was found hiding on the edge of the Chinese Blight. The events that unfolded that day, as reported by the 48th Platoon of Russian Cyber-Militia, are as follows:

It all began from a sequence of events so absurd, complicated and uncommon as to be unbelievable but an ancient Hopi Pueblo Prophecy predicted a time when the dead would roam the earth. They called them the Sleepwalkers. Monsters created during an unsurvivable cycle called the Sleeping Sickness, which would last for the length of time it took for only those born during that fateful era to grow up. There was no promise ANYONE could survive such an event. Nor was there ever any oral account as to how it might happen. Only a promise their Great Spirit would give them a sign. 𓅣 Enter Investigative Journalist and War Correspondent, Nathan O'Connor Sr. While covering a story for the WHO in Ethiopia he stumbles upon a dark plot originating in secret medical bio-labs that had the power to wipe out humanity, and runs concurrent with a Hopi prophecy predicting this event. Gathering as much information as possible, he took his findings to WHO HQ in Switzerland. He just never imagined his hard work would never see the light of day. [COMPLETED] •Being revised... AGAIN (Progress: Intro-Chap. 3)• "We're going back... Understand? There are more threats out here than we anticipated, and they're all after you-" Lukas' voice erupted into static and chunks... I glared at the man in all black as the light continued to beam and blind me. Without my glasses it was actually painful. And then there was silence. My bare feet hit the metal floor of wherever we had jumped to, and I put my hand up to shield my eyes from the vicious attack of bright light. Not again." Alexi Callidus is living in a post-apocalyptic world... In the 25th Century. The year is 2470. She's been surviving on her own for 4 years and 8 months inside the same building with her only companion without seeing the sun. 5 years after the brutal unexplained murder of her family. 7 years after the genetic disaster of "GASP". 7 years and 4 months after the War of Nations. Everything seems to be barren and empty... But if her super old sci-fi movies didn't teach her that looks deceive, nothing will. Technology, before "GASP" (Genetically Altered Soldiers Program) and the War of Nations, was insane. You could be teleported in the blink of an eye, or healed from a once fatal injury in days. With the majority of the population infected with a viral genetic plague, almost any of the survivors could access this technology... Including Alexi. When a simple quest for survival turns into a journey of a lifetime, will Alexi be able to survive the weight of the gruesome truth when she finally uncovers it? [Book 2 in the CODES series] || Roger, a cybernetic human with a second chance at life, must face the truths of every lie he's told or risk the possibility of losing it all... ** A year after the "Digital War," Roger had his second chance at life. It was owed to him, a forgotten promise made eighty years in the past by the founding fathers of the Province's prospering nations. He and the other "Codes" left abandoned within the silent computers of every living city would be brought back to life... And have their crimes forgiven and wiped from existence. Yet, finding a home in newly created bodies isn't easy for the new cyborg citizens. The Province may have reached its desired Utopian climate, but society itself was far from reach. So many refused to forget the pain every "Code" inflicted on their lives... Roger hadn't forgotten -- he chose to forget. But as those secret plans made before his original death return to the surface, Roger learns -- just as the Province did -- burying the past doesn't help heal old wounds. ** The gun fit so perfectly in my hands. It's metal, still warm from it's last fired bullet, brought back so many memories I'd learned to suppress. I didn't want to be the man standing in front of them, I wanted to grow and change. But let society remind me of my place... "Roger, don't!" Clara's tearful face came in front of me as she tried to take the gun from my hands. "Please, you don't have to do this!" I couldn't look at her. I didn't want to see the pain in her eyes. "That's the thing, Doll..." I tilted my head back and inhaled sharply. "I've got no other choice." The sound of a bullet firing never sounded so nice...
