Before, werewolves were united as one. A pack. Despite their differences, they accepted eachother until that one day. The day their leader, their Alpha was killed.
From that day onward, Mated werewolves began to envy and despise Alternatives, jealous of their free nature. Not being forced into love, having a mate.
As time went by, being an Alternative was considered rare. In cause of killing them for Mated ones were taking over. Alternatives hid from these once good creatures. The killing went on and on and on until there was but a family left of them. No one knew what happened to them. They just mysteriously disappeared.
Growing up, all I know was that I was different. The next, someone was claiming me as their mate.

So the usual werewolf story consists of an alpha finding his mate, before they both end up facing some type of tragedy. And then, they have their perfect happily ever after. In the meantime while the Alpha finds his usual innocent but breathtaking mate, it is as if the rest of the pack's lives have been put on hold.
