An excerpt from a novel in a series I am writing. Two main characters have a conversation that reveals some about the plot and their personalities. Augusta, a mortal, has discovered that her "horse" really isn't a horse at all, and is, in fact, a guardian angel shapeshifter who was commissioned to protect her and her family from demons. She, has been through many traumatic experiences by this point andbis frustrated that even her closest friend wasn't who she thought he was. She decides to pick his brain and test him to see if he is a true friend.
(My intention with these stories is to write a parallel of what the spiritual world would look like if we were conscious of it.)
