I was a little girl when I first met him.

Mother had told me to go to my room while she prepared some food. It was quite late and she hadn't had the chance to cook me anything because she was out most of the time. I was busy lying on my pillow, reading my book of fairytales mother had gifted me when I was a mere child of three. It was quite old, I was ten then, so I had it for seven years.

I don't know why, but I had some hope that all the legends, myths and fairytales were all true. I grew up reading them and I don't know- it was as though my life had took a turn for the best. Sometimes I felt as though they were with me, all these special characters. My favourite story was the one about Sandman. He seemed like a very interesting character. His story is a bit tattered and ripped because I numb through it so often.

I lay there, sighing and running my fingers through my hair.

And that's when he appeared.

He was small, around my height, maybe a little taller. He had spiky hair and a small, round face. And the most peculiar thing about him was that he was made out of golden sand.

I froze. I wanted to scream but I couldn't. No sound would come out of my mouth. It was as though I was paralysed. The book fell from my hand.

He stared at me, frowning. His eyes darted to my long blonde hair which now could I could wrap twice around my own body- it was that long.He came closer to me, and I shifted away.

"Who-who are you?" I managed to say.

He smiled. And then, to my shock, golden sand erupted from the very tips of his fingers, and began forming letters above them. I blinked when I read the letters, putting them all togethor in my head. Apparently, he was called Sandy.

"Your Sandy?" I asked him as though I thought he was lieing about his own name. I don't know why I was acting so suspicious. I needed to calm down a little.

He nodded at me. I narrowed my eyes suspiciously.

"Like the Sandman?"

He nodded again.
