Love in the Light of Faith: A Journey Through Islamic Love Stories
Many of what we call "love stories" today are nothing more than stories of lust and desire, physical attraction disguised as love. Is love about dying for the one you love or living every breath with him/her? Swapping love notes... exchange , living happily ever after... Normally, we associate these ideas of love with couples who meet, date, and fall head over heels for each other. Very rarely do we relate these images to married couples. Moreover, we almost never connect this perception to Muslim couples, who marry according to purely Islamic customs. Although this link is quite rare, there actually exists an example in Islaam's own history, which not only depicts this kind of love but goes far beyond it. For ease of reading, I have not inserted "Peace be upon him" each time the name of the prophet SAW is mentioned in some stories, but please take it that the salutation apply to him peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him.. We walked towards the car, my attention on his bruised hand. Before we entered I took the first aid box. He stood there, tall, eyes ~ deep enough to drown me. He made my heart mad and it shivered as I neared him. I saw him grin and he let out a chuckle, and I asked him, terrified but fearless, "Why are you laughing ?" He turned to give me a closer look, his cold eyes examining every detail of mine and finally he spoke in his heavy Emirati accent that blew my senses, with a smirk alongside. What attitude !!! "Am I the doctor or you ? -I gave him a sideways death glare- And I told him, "I'm your wife," He raised his eyebrow side ways and I raised mine sideways too. And he talked again, burning what remained of me, my ears curious to listen to him. He told me to get in the car bluntly. I denied !! This time I wasn't going to listen to him. And he stared at me - his eyes speaking a lot yet they were so quiet. I saw him take a sigh of defeat! He moved up to me, close... closer.... bridging the gap that let air pass between us. Assalamu alaikum, As we welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, we should remind ourselves of the importance of dua during this holy month. Allah ﷻ says in the Quran: "And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided." (Quran 2:186) This verse is a beautiful reminder that Allah ﷻ is always close to us, and He hears our prayers and supplications. Ramadan is a month of increased blessings and rewards, and it is the perfect time to increase our dua and ask for forgiveness, guidance, and blessings from Allah ﷻ. She looked at all of them with hopeful eyes. No one belived her. Except Him ! She didn't expect him to believe her out of all the people. She had expected some vile remarks and insults which she was used to. But life is cruel in wicked ways. It shows you the most beautiful things at the worst possible time and with the worst possible scenarios. "Your wife is going to be the unluckiest, I swear. God bless her already. Because she is going to need all the blessing she could get, to have her sanity after being married to a vain, controlling, conceited and..... and... a jerk like you." She was looking for words to describe him but had settled for 'jerk' in the end. Little did she know , that those words were going to bite her in the rare when she finds herself married to a man , she thought she hated his guts. The funny part was, she choose to get married to him and a small part of her was glad that it was him , instead of her harasser. Join Haya as she finds herself being rescued by the man she hated and who she thought hated her back. But there are things that doesn't meet the eyes. That we hide in our heart. And there were alot of secrets hidden in his heart. Things that either could destroy everything he had worked for or could bring him the peace and forever that he was looking for !!
