"There is a chasm between us, a gaping schism that only seems to widen as hard as we try to close the distance. Someday, our combined efforts to reach each other again will lead us both into the abyss." After an overthrow of the unwanted factionless government, the war in Chicago is over. To maintain stability, the faction leaders decide to return to the faction system. Because of this, the sixteen-year-olds that chose that year are sent back to their former factions for nine months. Tris falls into a state of depression after the war and her impromptu breakup that occurred at the end of it, and returning back to Abnegation--to the same house as her traitor brother--doesn't help. Dauntless Born
I've been in Dauntless my whole life, with everything being fast paced. But don't be fooled. It wasn't my Faction of origin. I was raised into it, but you'll learn about that later not here. I was raised to run, to fight, to wield weapons, to catch moving trains for transportation. this was all in the normal for a Dauntless kid. There were times were it was evident there had been some sort of mistake made, and I wasn't supposed to be in Dauntless based on my likes, dislikes, and pass-time hobbies. But even then I managed to fit the mold. Everything was normal, until it wasn't. For now, I'll spare you the grim, dark, sob details which is my life turning upside down. but as you go you won't be so lucky to be spared. no one was spared, and no one was lucky.
