An accompaniment to The distance between. An AU that takes place before those events near the end of season 2.

Reyyan has talked about what Miran did that morning when he left her, but she has rarely spoken about the night they spent together. I wrote this as an exploration of her hesitance, past trauma, and growing up in purity culture. This is what I greatly wished to see on screen and what the characters deeply need in order to progress in their relationship.

'Look, I'm not interested in having this conversation with, you, Amelia,' he said, looking everywhere but at me. 'It's time for you to leave because I have a train to catch.' 'You know what, Ryker?' I said, my voice weak and soft as I tried to stop it from shaking. 'I think I've figured out the real reason they call you The Hurricane; they come into people's lives unannounced and uninvited and destroy every single thing in their path before they decide to leave again, without a clue or care for the devastation they leave behind.' Ignoring the haunted expression on his face as he took in my words, I spun on my heel and walked out the door, hoping to never see the piece of shit ever again." Life hasn't been easy for 16-year old Amelia Woods. Most of her life she spent being passed around the foster care system until finally being adopted by her parents and moving to the quirky little town of Richmond where she met her dream boyfriend Mason Miller. Life couldn't be better for Amelia - then arrives Ryker Jordan; Mason's childhood best friend who disappeared from town years ago and decides to make his return. He is obnoxious and arrogant and the very definition of a rebel; someone that Amelia finds herself hating with a passion and she has no idea how he gets under her skin so easily. As much as Ryker gets on her very last nerve and makes every effort to annoy her, there comes a point when she realises that he is just like her in many ways she did not realise and slowly but surely, Amelia finds herself wanting to know more and more about him. What she does not realise, is just how life-changing her curiosity is going to become and that once she lets herself go there, there's no coming back.

[SEQUEL TO DAMAGE CONTROL] Four years elapsed since he shattered her life. Four years since he practically forced her to break something he never thought he had--a heart. Now, Nathaniel's new empire Phoenix Tech he created after giving up Creed Industries, is thriving more than ever, still awarding him the title of being the ruthless, heartless billionaire he was before who always gets what he wants. After traveling around the globe doing charity work to compensate for her father's selfish actions, Anastazi finds herself back in California, where she begins working for a nonprofit organization as the Nonprofit Project Coordinator after secretly donating the millions she saved up on her own over the years. But what happens when a certain successful tech company offers to provide the resources she needs to skyrocket her nonprofit to a new level, and in return, one nonprofit employee has to shadow the tech CEO for a few months? Will she be able to swallow her past after everything that has transpired and shadow the very same man she's spent the last four years avoiding? History has a funny way of repeating itself with secrets still tucked away waiting to be unleashed, but this time the passion is steamier, emotions intensified, attracting like magnets that were destined to meet up in the end. Is there really light at the end of the long dark tunnel, or is that an illusion they will both be forced to accept? *Sequel to Damage Control. Must read the first book.* ⚠️ [18+] Includes very mature content, cursing, and triggers, including talks about suicide. ⚠️
