Anastasia WIlson had moved to town a few months ago, making friends quickly with the group, (Elena, Damon, Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie, Jeremy etc.) She had especially become close to Stefan, the two of them becoming best friends within weeks of her arrival to the small town.
