Two thousand years ago, there was an Airbender Avatar named Aang. Now, two thousand years after Avatar Aang's death, there is an Earthbender named Ren. 

Ren doesn't know that he'll die two days after he finds out he's the Avatar. He also doesn't know that he'll be killed by the next Avatar's mother.
