amanda "mandy" powell lives in quite possibly the most boring city in all of america: north las vegas. she believes that everyone who lives in north las vegas is old, boring, and washed-up. but in her eighth grade year, she realizes that there is more to her controlling best friend julie and her toxic mom. there's malachy adrian, the boy with different-colored eyes, there's talia yuna, who knows more about fashion than julie ever will, and there's a new mandy powell that listens to cool music and is learning that being different is sometimes really cool.
