In 2024, The Mushroom Kingdom faces annihilation after a catastrophic event from outer space hits the land, forever changing it. Mario and the gang are upon the selected few to venture out into space to find a new habitable planet using professor E. Gadd's Quantum: a super-sized luxury liner ship capable of transporting passengers across the galaxy in just over a week.
Mario and friends venture off with high hopes, not knowing what lurks in the outer reaches of space.
