---Adelaide stood on the sidewalk in front of the airport as Brennon walked away from her, hauling his luggage behind him. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, she felt the strangest feeling. One she'd felt before, far too much for what could be considered healthy for a single person. Fear wasn't new to her, but right now it felt foreign. She didn't fear for her safety like she probably should, she didn't fear for her family's safety or being alone in such a huge city, and she didn't fear for Brennon's safety- for she knew he was capable enough to take care of himself. As she stood there, she felt tears brimming in her eyes, but it wasn't watching him walk away that made this so hard, it was the fear that she'd never see him again.---

Brennon Knight and Adelaide Turner sat in the gatehouse of an airport, waiting to board a connecting flight to San Francisco. One was running to something, one running away. They're young, they're total opposites, and they were complete strangers who, as teens usually do, thought they had everything figured out. All it took was a delayed flight, a book, a headache, and a whole lot of secrets for them to see that they couldn't have been more wrong.

Avelyn Johnson, a flight attendant with a heart full of wanderlust and a penchant for serendipity, has her usual airport ritual: a steaming caramel macchiato from her favorite coffee shop. As she waits for her order, her attention is drawn to the man in line behind her-Fransisco de la Cruz, a charismatic and sharply dressed realtor with an air of confidence and just a hint of mystery. Their paths collide-literally-when Avelyn turns too quickly, almost causing Fransisco to spill his espresso. Apologies and embarrassed smile are exchanged, and what could have been an awkward moment or perfect chance encounter turns into... Nothing. Before they can explore the spark, the boarding call for their flights interrupts them. They part ways, believing their brief encounter was just a fleeting airport moment. Fate has other plans. As Avelyn takes her place as the second lead flight attendant in charge of the economy cabin on her next flight, she's stunned to see Fransisco seated in first class, reviewing property listings on his tablet. Equally surprised but undeniably pleased, Fransisco can't help but flash her a knowing smile as she welcomes him aboard. Over the course of the flight, their paths intertwine in unexpected ways-shared glances, moments of conversation, and an undeniable connection that grows with every interaction. By the time the plane touches down, both Avelyn and Fransisco know their meeting wasn't a mere coincidence. It was the start of something neither of them saw coming-a story of two souls finding love in the in-between moments of life, where the ground ends and the sky begins. As their lives continue to crisscross through unexpected destinations and heartfelt choices, they'll learn that love, like flight, is about taking risks, embracing the unknown, and trusting the journey.

Twelve years ago, he drove away with my heart in his hands. I've moved on since then. Or so I thought. Growing up in a small town, there weren't too many options when it came to friends. But, even in a sea of a million, I'd always choose Jake Jameson. I felt safe with him. Safe with my secrets, my dreams and eventually - my heart. I thought we'd have forever together. That was a long time ago. I thought I'd forgotten those piercing blue eyes and the sound of his laugh. I tried to obliterate the memory of his touch from my mind. But, one single glance, as he stands at my door, twelve years later, and I'm suddenly transported back to a simpler time when love was easy, and my heart was whole. The problem? I'm marrying his best friend.
