Feelings. Something Beetlejuice had been struggling to cope with for a long time now. Being forgiven was confusing the demon. He did everything wrong, he caused issues that still seemed to be effecting them. Why had they let him stay? Why do they tell him that he's welcome? Why don't they wan't him to leave?
