"In romance, a rose is what's preferred, there's even a show where the one a person loves is based on who they give the single rose to. Ray isn't a rose. He's not preferred. He's more of a sunflower. A sunflower grows in the direction that the sun rises because it loves the light and heat but when that sunflower has no sun, it's just a flower. A sunflower depends on others to be what it was."

     17-year-old Ray Apollo starts off his senior year with two goals in mind:

     1) Get into Stanford University (a scholarship would be nice)

     2) Get a life

     With only two simplistic goals and a college boy with a cute smile by his side to help achieve his second goal, Ray believes that he's finally gonna have control over his life again, something he hasn't had since he was diagnosed with clinical depression but, he should've expected that it wouldn't be that easy. After the foundation he built at the beginning of the year crumbles to dust, he realizes that to achieve the second goal, he needs to learn to love someone he hasn't felt much appreciation for in awhile;

Himself.

People always say every life should be cherished. That every single one of them is equally fragile and precious. Like a beautiful glass sculpture or the blossoming flowers in spring. But the thing is, everyone's definition of beautiful is different. Some people prefer roses over orchids. Some of them like sculptures of people whereas others like sculptures of animals. And so there are times when even the most beautiful sculpture gets thrown away like trash or forgotten somewhere because they found one that's prettier. The beautiful flowers that bloomed in spring will wither away and eventually become nothing but dust. There are times when a sculpture in itself could be really beautiful but a tiny flaw will make people deem it as a "mistake". The flowers that are left to wither away just because they miss a leave, or because they aren't the right size or the right colour. So you see that saying about every life being equally precious?, yeah that only counts for the "perfect" ones. Still some of these faulty sculptures and broken flowers managed to make it into the world. They would be facing the harsh reality of this world and would have to fight to survive. Some of them would unfortunately lose this fight in the end, leaving to a faraway place in hopes to find peace and quiet. Still just being able to make it this far in this harsh world is something to be proud of, as friends and family will forever remember these brave individuals who fought hard to survive until the very end. - Kaylee de Leeuw

"So, let me get this straight," I looked at him weirdly, raising my hands slightly in exclamation. "You like me?!" I asked him in disbelief. "Like or like-like?" I really can't get my head to process his words at the moment. "Is it weird that I don't." He simply replied, his voice sounded calm but serious at the same time. "And for your question, I do. I do like-like you. Like, I really like you. To the point that you're the only thing that's on my mind everyday and I can't seem to get you off it." I was literally standing there like an idiot, slowing blinking my eyes in a slow pace, still can't believe what's actually happening in front of me. ______________________________ ( Partially Edited.)
