On the continent of Concordia, there's a war going on, though it's  in the background of most people's lives. However, quite a bit of most people's lives changes when an evil being washes up upon their shores. Ex-emperor Corvus of Stymyria has survived his encounter with the demon king and has officially lost his sanity, thinking up new plans for devastation. His arrival coincides with the discovery of a new illness that's rapidly affecting the population. When two other people wash up on the shores of Concordia, a question emerges.
