Fili and Kili are dead, they sacrificed everything for their king, for their people, now even Thorin will have to renounce everything, his prejudices, his ideas, his alliances, for his "treasure" and his people. 
On the other hand, a half elf divided between two races, will have to reckon with her dark past, accepting herself and the king of Erebor as his One.
