Cara Littlesea believed with her whole heart that La Push was easily the safest place in the world. The beaches, the bonfire nights, the sound of the constant-seeming rain lulled her into a sense of security better than any lock or deadbolt. She thrived on the days of soccer with her brother, thrived on hanging out in her cousin's garage while fixing up cars, thrived on the rush of rapidly approaching ocean while cliff-diving, thrived in La Push. Suddenly, things begin to change, with her cousin chasing after some pale-face from Forks before coming down with "mono" and avoiding everyone like the plague. Secrets come to light, and it doesn't take long for Cara to realize that her haven is so much more than it seems.
