What seems to be an ordinary gathering of getting to know other people turns out to be so much more than that

I reached for his body involuntarily as he pitched forward, nearly causing him to take me down with him. My left hand was soaking wet from where it had landed on his shoulder. One minute they are taking their last breaths before waking up with superpowers beyond their wildest dreams. The chemicals from the particle accelerator changed their DNA. The teens wake up confused and scared.
