Dr. Geoff Wigington is a zoologist that specializes in butterflies.
Awsten is part of an illegal animal selling ring.
Both are looking for the world rarest butterfly, a butterfly that is half male and half female, but for different reasons- Geoff needs to breed them, and Awsten needs to catch them so that he can sell them.
When they first meet, they hate each other, but they reluctantly decide to work together in order to find it.
