When Byleth Eisner and his family saved a group of nobles from bandits, none of them expected to get swept into staying at Garreg Mach Monastery, the site of a military academy. One twist of fate later, and Byleth was now a professor teaching one of the three houses of students: the Black Eagles, the Blue Lions, or the Golden Deer. His sister, Blythe Eisner, along with Celine, a mysterious young woman under the care of the Eisner family, had chosen the Blue Lion House. It seemed his fate was set in stone, but he later found out it was not.
The monastery was not everything it had seemed to be. Strange happenings were taking place all around Fódlan, transforming what was supposed to be a peaceful year into a year no one had ever experienced before. Ancient enemies were coming out of the shadows, influencing the continent and its inhabitants. Nothing would prepare the people of Fódlan for the rise of the Agarthans... unless something were to be done.
Byleth, Blythe, Celine, and the three house leaders would be instrumental in Fódlan's new dawn. They just had to chase the dawn through adversity, betrayal, and misunderstanding in order to reach it.

Typically a loner, she doesn't expect to make new friends at a private academy, where everyone seems to already know everyone, but on the first day, she takes an interest in Hubert, while his friend Edelgard takes an interest in her. Byleth quickly finds herself growing close to both of them, unsure of her developing feelings for Hubert. She doesn't have any romantic experience, and Hubert is not only a strange guy, but also so close to Edelgard that it's hard to figure out what their relationship actually is. Not to mention her confusion where her own relationship with Edelgard is concerned... Amidst all of this, there are rumors floating around town regarding a strange series of killings.
