This is about a detective with high intellectual prowess and a good sense of humor and who appears to keep his cool in any situation and even causes others to be calm no matter how tense the situation is, he investigates murder cases until he encounters the super-natural.  Creatures of the night such as vampires, were-wolves and all exist here coupled with mage craft, dimensional travelling even demons and gods.  Dickson faces off against a criminal with an horde of the supernatural at his disposal, but he nearly lost his life.   He came upon a realization that he is an incarnation of the first alpha-human (the greatest supernatural being ever made by the Gods).
He learns of a ploy that will destroy his entire world.  With his new-found friends, Dick struggles against the impending doom that will befall his city.
