What would you do if you discovered your life was a total lie? Do you fear it and continue on? Or do you leave behind everything you know and discover your new one? Nova Pierce, a black high school student, has been living in a city called West Point since she could remember. What's so special about this community? It's a gated community, need I say more? Nova's life has been all about keeping up a perfect appearance so others wouldn't see her as "different" according to her parents. They fear they will be treated inferior if they show their "true colors". As a result, Nova knows nothing about her culture or her parents childhood or in other words: she's been "whitewashed". However, growing up, Nova always felt something was missing but she didn't know what it was. This begins to change when Nova discovers her life is all a lie after meeting the newest black kids in West Point: Justin and Tiffany Carlton. How will Justin and Tiffany help Jaylyn discover her true self and culture? What will she do with this new information?

After everything that happened, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with Nova. I told myself I needed to check on her and make sure she was okay. I pushed open her door, and the sight of her almost stopped my heart. She was sitting on the floor, her back against the bed, eyes unfocused, her hand shaking as she brought another pill to her lips. My pulse quickened. "Nova?" My voice cracked, louder than I intended. She didn't respond at first, just continued, almost robotic, taking more. I rushed to her side, grabbing her wrist and forcing her to look at me. The fear in her eyes wasn't something I had ever seen before-not from her. I wasn't ready for this, but now that I was here, I couldn't look away. "What the hell are you doing?" I demanded, my voice rougher than I meant. She didn't answer. Her breath was shallow, and she seemed so... far away. The confident, strong Nova I knew was gone, replaced by someone broken. Someone who needed saving. I knew I had to be here for her, no matter what. Nova Rae Westbrook Her life seemed perfect-beautiful, smart, and unbothered by the world around her. But the truth was, Nova was hiding more than anyone could guess. Beneath the smile and confidence, there was a darkness she fought alone, a pain no one could see. Alexander Xavier DeLuca Charming, British, and arrogant to the core, Xavier DeLuca had it all-money, status, and women. He was used to getting what he wanted, no strings attached. A notorious playboy who never stayed interested in one girl for too long. But beneath the smirk and the effortless charm was a man who was hiding his own battles. A man with many faces, none of them truly his.
