What would you do if you discovered your life was a total lie? Do you fear it and continue on? Or do you leave behind everything you know and discover your new one? Nova Pierce, a black high school student, has been living in a city called West Point since she could remember. What's so special about this community? It's a gated community, need I say more? Nova's life has been all about keeping up a perfect appearance so others wouldn't see her as "different" according to her parents. They fear they will be treated inferior if they show their "true colors". As a result, Nova knows nothing about her culture or her parents childhood or in other words: she's been "whitewashed". However, growing up, Nova always felt something was missing but she didn't know what it was. This begins to change when Nova discovers her life is all a lie after meeting the newest black kids in West Point: Justin and Tiffany Carlton. How will Justin and Tiffany help Jaylyn discover her true self and culture? What will she do with this new information?
