Iliana Zarif was never supposed to stay in the city. She considered it a brief pit-stop, a stepping stone on her way to success. Success meaning a degree in neuroscience, and a high-ranking position at a prestigious institution, or perhaps a well-renowned college. Success meaning never having to hear someone call her a "disappointment" again. Success, for Iliana, meant freedom. In her mind, there was nothing in the world that could stop her from achieving her goal. But life has a habit of making exceptions.

Hayden Westing was not the best at thinking ahead. He preferred to live in the moment; quietly. He struggled with escaping his violent past so he tried his best to live for a better future. Many thought he was lazy, always staring out a window or lost in space. However, Hayden considered himself a very busy man. Calculus would always be there for another day, but the mysteries of the word could often pass by in the blink of an eye. Hayden believed that lightning only strikes once, so he devoted his time to keeping an eye out for that special spark. However, will he be fast enough to catch her? And what happens when his past catches up to him?
