"Untrue? Are you admitting to be a liar, dear Elizabeth?" He smirked, opening his door further. He crossed his muscular arms, leaning his body weight against the door frame. I narrowed my eyes. I felt like a bug under a microscope with the man towering over me, his eyes switching between my eyes at my exposed cleavage. He had no shame to try hiding what he was doing.
"No, Mr. Barnes. I don't mean that. I prefer to be honest at all times." I said. I was hardly finished, but the man began creeping closer to me, stepping away from his door frame. However, in hopes to prove I wasn't afraid of him, I stayed put.
"Thin walls, my dear girl. Your mother prefers you to be dishonest rather than you run your mouth. Elizabeth, I'd quite like to hear what you think of me. I'm sure expressing your thoughts are not the only thing that mouth is good for." He grinned. I felt my blood begin to boil. Everything I had heard about him was true.
"Excuse me?" He only snickered at my reddened cheeks. He took a step closer to me yet again. And another. And another... He backed me into the wall, reaching his arm out to cage me in.
"You should know, Miss Wright, I always get what I want. I have my sights set. I am a very patient man." He smirked. He pulled back his arm, his coat in his hand. He took grabbing his coat from the coat hanger in the corner as a chance to have me trapped between him and the wall.
"I'll be out riding with your cousins. I do look forward to dinner with you, Miss Elizabeth. Thank you very much for your apology. I'm certain I can think of a way for you to make it up to me." He winked, his pearly white teeth grinning at me as he headed downstairs.
