A short story telling the tale of a girl who wishes she were super - and finds out that she is.
I wrote this a few years ago for my friend for her birthday, to try to encourage her. I can't say that the idea is too creative though... :)

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!Complete

In a school for super powered, supernatural students one doesn't fit in. She comes from the most prestigious family well known for their superpowers, yet Winter Mangalow is just a normal girl. Her family all keep telling her that one day her powers would shine through, but now at the age of seventeen almost eighteen she no longer believes them. Her school life is hell with everyone looking down on her because of her lack of powers. With her Dad being Principal though it meant she couldn't even attend a different school. Both the ban of her existence and the only joy in her day is one Caspian Anderson, the most powerful student in the school. When at school he acts like the biggest, most arrogant jerk she had ever known. But Winter has a secret, she knows Caspian very well. He may not acknowledge her at school but every afternoon he was all hers. He was the best friend that any girl could wish for. He was sweet, kind and funny. He never let the fact she had no powers bother him then at all. With the arrival of Zeke Worthington her life became in disarray. He understood her; he knew what it felt like to be the outsider. He told her he had come from a place where he was misunderstood too. Zeke seemed immensely happy to meet Winter, even though he befriended Caspian too. Why Caspian had a problem with it, Winter doesn't understand. It wasn't like he went out of his way to be friends with her during school hours. Even as Winter and Zeke get closer, Caspian becomes increasingly unhappy and agitated with her. She can't change things though, after all in the long run all she can prove is that she has no powers, but maybe she will be surprised.Complete

She's just your ordinary girl. She has silk brown waves. Big chocolate brown eyes. She's really no one special. An average girl. With beyond extraordinary grades. So naturally it's where she's bound to turn when things get tough. She'll bury her nose in her books. Surround herself with schoolwork and block out anyone or anything that would destroy her. She would spend a Saturday night with her textbooks rather than out on the town with her so called friends. She's friendly when she has to be, but also incredibly shy around new people. She's exactly who she wants to be. He's every girls dream superstar. The ideal boyfriend. The one that any girl would take home to mom and dad. He'll stand below her window and serenade her with beautiful melodies. He'll hold her hand walking to class. He'll smile when he calls her. He'll score the game winning point in any sport. But what happens when the girl he wants can't seem to understand she's more than just your ordinary girl. She's extraordinary.Complete

Will they stop bickering and worrying about boys, fashion and proms long enough to save the day? *Esther 4:4 Gifts: Baby in the corner Beth (19) has the ability to draw her heart's desires. She thinks it's only while using her big box of 64 crayons. She doesn't realize the power is in her mind's eye and not her writing implements. Jo (20) can teleport. Of course she doesn't always stick her landings. At first her landings are as messy as is her life. She's lost her mother, her family home, her faith and now thinks she may be losing her mind. Supercilious self-absorbed Amy (17) has the uncanny ability to get others to do what she wants. She says, ever so sweetly, "I'd prefer..." Dad always called it "wrapping others around her little finger syndrome." If she wanted she could ask a perfect stranger to hand over his car keys and he'd have to oblige. The oldest sister Meg (21) has dreams and visions about the world's near future. She's also very intuitive. Perhaps if she were better at seeing her own future maybe her personal life wouldn't be in shambles?Complete

I am not your typical 16 year-old girl going around obsessing over boy bands and clothes, I can't obsess over those things on a daily when everyday I'm in fear that the government will take me in. I have superpowers. Not the superpowers like fake magic, real superpowers. Everyone would do absolutely anything to be me. But, I would trade my life with yours cause' I hate having this fear everyday. People fear me though. They're afraid that I'll hurt them, but would never hurt a soul. I believe that everyone is important in this world and can make a big difference unlike me. Telling somebody their a "nobody", "nothing" or "worthless" is something I would never do. I am different than anyone off the street. I have now been put in a spot that I have to fix by myself or the whole country could be in danger.
