Harmon's are all powerful, Muleen's are simple bookworms, and the Interval's are poor slaves. The empire is falling apart over a simple book. The book's powers are unknown, but there are restrictions on whom may open it; the most powerful ruler in all of history, and or, a Muleen trained well enough to fight as strong as a Harmon.  When the empress visits Harmongate Academy and chooses Elena to be trained, Elena has no idea the lasting effects being chosen would have on her life.  Elena and her brother Kolin go through a variety of trials after their father is killed after being caught with the book. Elena is broken, her life is changed forever but a little part of her wants to fight and get revenge for her father's death. Elena is the empress's gateway to opening the book, so the royal Harmon treats Elena just as she would treat her own Harmon son.. Julian. Though little does the the empress know the innocent Muleen she chose to train, is really the daughter of the famous Muleen book theif.
