When eighteen year old Carly Harris gets expelled from school for vandalizing the principals house her aunt and uncle set her up in her own apartment in the nearest school district. A fight in the cafeteria and a dead car battery on her first day leads her to a new group of friends. In that group is Adam Gallo, once East Riverside's popular quarterback. Adam's girlfriend Nikki disappeared from a party five months ago and he hasn't been able to move on. Carly is instantly drawn to him. Slowly they built a relationship and fall in love. Then Adam gets a phone call. Nikki has been found alive. He rushes off to Nikki leaving Carly reeling. With no word from Adam for months she struggles to move on. When Adam returns and wants her back, Carly is willing to forgive him until she learns that Nikki has no memory of her past or Adam. Feeling like a consolation prize Carly tells him they are done and once again tries to move on. No matter how many great guys she dates she can't forget Adam.
