Margie's dad is a cop. He is working on a dangerous case and sends Margie and her mom away, not wanting anyone to know about them and hurt them. He ordered them not to associate with anyone but it is hard for Margie to follow those instructions especially because of Carson. 

Margie doesn't get why Carson attracts her that much not knowing his past and why he shuts everyone out. It's better for her to leave because the truth will crush her. Carson has told her this before but she just doesn't listen.
