Chasing after a pokemon that broke into his home, 15 year old Eli wanders across an injured Riolu. As he rushes to save it's life, Eli discovers that Riolu's species are extinct. Eli trains Riolu and has decided to travel with his two friends, Gavin and Lynette. Along the way they run into a villainous group of people attempting to turn normal pokemon into shadow pokemon, a much more powerful, but evil pokemon. While ruthlessly stealing trainers pokemon, the villains desperately want to get there hands on Riolu, but Eli refuses to let that happen. Together, the group of friends take a stand against the group known as the Shadow Seekers, and fight for the future of all people and pokemon. Will they succeed? Or be overcome by the shadows?

Feeling defeated and ready to go home, they are met with the legendary pokémon Arcues. The god of pokémon could sense their love and despair and gifted them with a fully developed egg. On her fifth birthday, Ben and Jin happily gave her the pokémon egg. The egg had hatched immediately into a Riolu, and Emmaly and Riolu loved each other at once. Peace would not last forever as the Langit family got invaded. Emmaly and her parents were forced to retreat as the two brothers held the invaders off. They were never seen again after that. At age thirteen, Emmaly takes Riolu and runs away from home to start her own journey.
