The Focus Effect
I see the world through different eyes--literally. Some people would say I have it all. I'm smart, have popular friends and my parents are loaded. One deadly weekend at the family lake house changes all that. When I wake up in a strange facility in the middle of nowhere, I'm told that I'm being held for the public's safety and that I've been given a gift. I can see threads of light around objects that can be manipulated to change ordinary things into new and, sometimes, unworldly contraptions. But to call it a gift? It's actually pretty freaky. But the facility director has got to be the worst. He's completely obsessed with unlocking my abilities, not to mention he's a psychopath. To make matters worse, there's this boy I like. I just wish I knew if I could trust him or not. Or maybe the better question is--can he trust me? I almost forgot to tell you the craziest part of all. I'm radioactive.Complete

Barry's life
Two people fall in love in unlikely circumstances. They have a lot of psychological issues and mistrusts in the order of things to prevent them from finding themselves and each other. I am a reader of crime novels and hard science fiction almost exclusively, and yet this story, which I have been writing for a long time, is a love story, I can't explain it even to myself. The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. This story still is a work in progress, it has holes and it is to be continued

That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. A blank doll with acting and action running in her veins, Freia woke up in a hospital with no memory of what brought her there. Sure, the doctors said a car crash delivered her there, but it didn't feel like it. They said her family's dead but how come Freia didn't feel like that was true? Her very first visitors were her adoptive parents, Fabio and Darlene Hunter. She had four friends that stuck with her ever since she could remember, literally. That is until one who was dear to her was killed, in front of her. Of course, she was devastated. Why would that be a question? One day, Fabio decided to put her into his school filled with students that he specifically chose to be in. When she was finally forced to be in it, she found out things she thought that only existed in books. Powers unknown to the modern world, sheltered children who only knows the world through TV and non-interactive computers. All of the information comes in that school, but never comes out. I gotta say, why would you believe something that was written and altered by humans from outside? Would you even put your trust on the person who doesn't let you out unless he wants you to?
