The world is dead, and a generation that has known nothing but its skeleton must now bring it back to life. Deep in the swamps of Louisiana, Oscar Dixie struggles to provide for the empire he's built, while his brother and sister, scattered across the country, make their ways back to their long lost sibling. They are drawn to his rising fame and power, like so many others, but not everyone looking for him has a reunion on their mind. When a dangerous foe travels south to challenge him, Oscar and the family he barely knows find themselves in a wrestle for power and responsibilities they do not want. But if Oscar doesn't take his place in history, someone else will.

Four misfits team up to expose a dirty politician. What could possibly go wrong? + + + In Sam's world, there are only two sides: the North and the South. With Northerners having more opportunities, the South is left to suffer the aftereffects of something that occurred two decades ago, something they were blamed for, but not necessarily proven guilty of. Nineteen-year-old Samuel Williams, a Southerner, has been out of prison for a year, and his only goal now is to make a life for himself. He wants nothing to do with his past. That is, until he's dragged back into it. Literally. In order to pay off his gut-wrenching debt to a gang leader, Sam is forced to make a difficult decision: return to his life as a thief or risk getting killed by his loaner. With nowhere else to turn, he's left to do what he swore he'd never do again, as he plans a heist on the very man who set him up the night of his arrest: Andrew Leavens. Sam knows he can't pull off the heist alone. Fortunately for him, there are those willing to help, including an ex-assassin, a bounty hunter, and a skilled hacker. But as light sheds on some startling secrets of Andrew's, Sam realizes he might have to do more than just pocket the politician's wealth. NOTE: This book is listed as mystery/thriller because "dystopian" wasn't listed in the genre options. Although this book does have mystery and suspense in it, I think it's more dystopian than anything else. Also, I didn't mark "mature content," but there is mild language (very mild) and some violence. I didn't think it was graphic enough to mark "mature content" though. [Word Count: 94,000 - 95,000] This story is completed!

When Mandy loses her job, she thinks she’s hit rock bottom – until her plane is swallowed by a strange storm that sends her and everyone else on board 10,000 years into the future. At first, she thinks the scary world is nothing more than a bad dream. The war-torn Earth is unrecognizable. Black fog blocks the sun, and the oceans are dry. Even worse: the planet is inhabited by half-human, half-alien creatures dying from a mysterious disease. Horrified at the thought of spending her life here, she clings to the knowledge that there’s one man who can open the star gate to send her home. As the Naki prince who controls the star gate, Akkadi gets first choice of any human female that makes her way through the star gate. Only by breeding with purebred humans from the past can his race hope to remain immune to the disease and hopefully, develop an eventual cure. With shrinking resources and a raging battle for the human planet, dutiful, commanding Akkadi is less than thrilled at the idea of trying to figure out Mandy, a woman he views as wild with neither discipline nor respect for someone in his position. He’s ready to write her off, when she offers him something too tempting to resist: her body for the chance to convince him by any means possible to send her home. Neither intends for the arrangement to be permanent or to fall for the other. Only when Mandy learns Akkadi’s secret and walks away does he realize he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her – even if it means losing his war.
