When the love of Tony's life dies while deployed overseas, Steve - his spouse's best friend - is there to help him pick up the pieces. Working through guilt and grief and the ghost that is Bucky's memory, Steve and Tony cautiously decide to cultivate this thing between them. And just as everything starts falling into place and they build a life for themselves, Tony gets a call that once again sends it crashing down around them.
