It was impossible to transport your magic into someone so that they also have the ability to use it. You can put the magic there, but that only means that you have control over the body, but not the other way around. Those who weren't born with the ability were to stay that. Most people would say that you'd have to be very lucky to be able to have the ability to contain magic. It seemed like a different case to Marcellus, he'd even say that he is very unfortunate to have this ability. He never asked for it, he never wanted it, he never accepted it. It was just there, slowly growing inside him, as if ready to consume him at the right moment. He hated being able to contain that power within him, he wanted it to wear away bit by bit, be gone from his body, but it would never go away, it was there thriving inside him, and it was there to stay. After all, it was just that that killed his sister Livia, the only person that understood him.

With the virus destroying anything in its way, Marcellus regrets his life, hoping he was never alive. He is immune to this virus with the powers he was born with. But he can't back out just yet, he needs a way to make sure it doesn't bring anymore danger to people, to find a cure, so that they won't end up the same way as the only person that valued him as he is.

Unfortunately, he quickly discovers that the new world does not follow the same logic that it did before. 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. The being wasn't like other's any of them had seen. They wanted to know how it was possible in the world that was nothing but desert, and infection. 0-Sa was also alone, which was unusual for the species. The Irinaut became valuable quite quickly, having found no spore infection visibly on him. The team had one job, obtain and return the creature alive, but they would soon come to find out that the cargo would be more difficult to transport than they thought. Their job is to keep Phoenix alive while he tries to make money reappear and find a cure to Gold fever. This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent?
