Shaylene drew in deep breaths. She sucked as much air as her lungs could accommodate and walked out of the kitchen.
She stood in a chary motion, a few feet away from the main door and braced herself for what was to come. She willed herself to be strong and to avoid any form of "entanglement" for the next few days.
She wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to go out and welcome them _but then, she also wanted to seem as normal and unaffected as possible.

He looked at her for a long moment.
"Shaylene, I know you're used to doing it all but at some point you're going to have to let someone in"
"It doesn't have to be you" Shaylene scowled.
Despite the strong physical attraction she felt with him, she managed to keep herself in check. What happened in the cabin shouldn't repeat itself. It was just a one time thing,she kept reminding herself.
She continued. "I've been fine without you. I don't need you to save me. I don't need you and the contract means nothing"
He paused, studying her face.
"Marry me"
Her throat tightened. She never expected that. Shaylene let out a short laugh.
"It's all easy for you right? Playing with people's emotions, huh?"
She wasn't falling for it. Not the second time.
"What's the catch this time? I'm still very young,not like it's any of your business, though"
