Seventeen-year-old Christina Edgar has always lived an odd life in the town of Pecos, Texas. Struggling to fit in with her overwhelming mother, and getting bullied daily for being different has become a norm for her - but when her mysterious father suddenly shows up back from the "dead", bearing even more problems with him, she is pulled into a world filled with darkness that she never even thought could be possible.

Not only is it the worst timing ever to discover that she is not human, but Christina also finds herself falling in love with her cousins' fiance, William. 

Now she has to discover that there is more to her past than she knows about and that her mother has been trying to keep her from knowing the truth, the truth that will haunt her forever . . .

I can hear your heart racing, I can feel your breathing, I can smell your body responding like it's never experienced these sensations before," he whispered, sliding a finger just underneath the band.
