SPOILERS FOR 100 YEAR QUEST
When Lucy saves her friends in exchange for her own life. She gets reborn with her memories of her past life. And then in that life that saves Natsu in exchange for her own life.
So the pattern continues forever each time she is killed by Ignia, and every time it is her saving someone she loves.
And every time she is reborn, Natsu hates her more and more but he doesn't know why.
Sadly Lucy knows why, she broke a promise they all made to each other.
"We don't die for friends, because it only creates more sadness."
She broke that promise and now she is paying the price for it, forever.

Ever wish Lucy were more angry with Natsu once he returned? The fight on Tartaros is over, and Fairy Tail won the war. With Tartaros gone, the Black Wizard Zeref's demons destroyed, peace was restored to the world. But at what cost? The guild has disbanded, and everyone has gone their separate ways. Many wizards retired, others found work elsewhere, some joined new guilds, and the rest mourned what was lost. Natsu returns from a year since he left Fairy tail to become stronger. But in the time he left Fairy Tail disbanded. What happens when he realizes his old friend Lucy Heartfillia kept track of everyone and was lonely since he left.
