Yokai: meaning demon, though it is a cruel word to use on the species. The first acknowledgement of the species came from the small island of Japan. The other worldly beings roamed the grounds and had no shyness to being known to the natives. These occupants were nothing the human eyes had ever seen. They ate children, raped women and pillaged villages as far as the eyes could see. It was no wonder why the native Japanese called them Yokai and were weary of them. A plethora of tales roamed about the small island causing fear to be installed within the Japanese. Though there was fear, many people respected and even loved the Yokai that appeared. Those people believed that the Yokai were gods sent to save humanity but it didn’t stop the prejudices’ and hatred targeted towards the Yokai. Those who feared the Yokai sent Monks and Priestess, who were trained to purify the unworldly beings, to cleanse the country of them. This started a war between the monks, priestesses, and Yokai. It happened though out the Warring States Era and is now known as the Era were the monsters roamed free. The Yokai were pronounced deadly by every high lord in the Warring states era, pronounced lethal by the emperor of Japan and considered a myth by the twenty-first century. The Yokai didn’t disappear though. Like most people, the Yokai moved to different parts of the country and began to expand their species. Many remained in Japan, while others went to Europe and the Americas. Unknown to the humans on earth today, there are still Yokai in the current century and that’s not about to change. The Yokai live among the humans and have created disguises to live a human life by all means. The only time a Yokai would revile their true form was with their fellow Yokai or when forming a bond with a human. Unfortunately, something very troubling had begun without anyone’s knowledge. The prophecy has begun to tick on its clock and no one can stop its moving.
