my damsel in distress turn out to be a lizard girl

I'm a knight in a small town. it's surrounded by forest filled with monster and bands of thieves. during one of my nightly patrols a heard a damsel in distress. I of course went to see who was in danger. only to find a girl surrounded by a bandits. I charged in and managed to drive them away. which after I check to see if it was cleared I went to see how the girl which lead to my life turn upside down.
