Alaric Saltzman was not turned by any vampire but by the original witch, Esther; giving him the strength of an original. Alaric now having the curse of immortality adopted two teen boys. Not just boys but vampires. 
    
    Elijah and his younger siblings had grown quite close to Alaric. He was like family. Hell if it wasn't for Elijah, Alaric may have never met Stefan and Damon.
    
    Now with a close bond he raises the boys with the support of the Mikaelsons as if he was one of them.
