Catalina Cortez is a 13 year old girl from Santa Barbara California. She is highly skilled in fighting and outsmarting people. She's one tough chick. One day she accompanies her even more skilled but mysterious father to Miami Florida. There she is faced with difficult decisions after her father disappears. She is unofficially and forcefully adopted into a nice and diverse family. The Browns. Where she has to deal with the overly friendly mom who has terrible teeth named Whitney, a five year old girl who seems to think everyone is deaf, from the fact that she talks extremely loud named Molly, and last but definitely not least Olly. With Olly she experiences something she's never been accustomed to or even wanted to: love. Such a young age and the feelings cause tension and confusion. This story crosses in and out of romance, friendship, trust and the unsolved mystery of Catalina's father. Surprises on every corner.
