"happily" meaning they (the two main characters within romantic relations) are being happy, "ever after" meaning after the events of the story.
so "happily ever after" should mean "happy, together, after the story"... shouldnt it?
well some happy endings are like that,
most however- aren't as simple.
and others- aren't like that at all.
but i suppose that also depends who you ask...
