In 2093 all electronics on the planet were affected by a world wide solar emp that fried everything and killed millions with solar radiation. Those that were left were cut off from others and left in a barren wasteland similiar to a nuclear post apocalyptic world. Small communities survived simply because of unaffected dams and solar pannels which are only enough to power hot water heaters in the rich houses and the sector centers. 17 year old Cadence Camdyn and her 14 year old little sister Ally are all thats left of her family. Cadence is a scavenger for their small settlement called Phoenix. Her job is to gather tech, supplies, and trinkets for the council who is incharge of Phoenix. 19 year old Xander Laforest is a genius who researches tech at Point Tech, (the tech sector) and is working to develope the electricity. With no manuals and no teachers it is up to point Tech to rediscover the way out of the stoneage and as Xander proves how smart he is he realises that burdden falls to him. When Cadence breaks the rules her and her sister are punished severly, now running on half rations Ally starves herself to feed their old neighbor next door. While on a forbidden hunting mission to feed her sister Cadence comes across a strange piece of tech in a rsstricted sector that is actually working she takes it to xander in secret hoping for a giant payday. The tech turns out to be a flight recorder from a shuttle that tried to land in cape Canaveral. One that was too far away to be affected by the Surge. Xander gets it to play and they find out that the solar emp that ended the world wasnt all that was going to happen. The earths climate had distabalized and the disenigration of the earths ozone layer would end all life if something called project greenland wasnt activated. Something that could only be done in washington d.c. in a crisis bunker developed for the president. The problem? It required electricity. And no one in phoenix would believe them.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
