Lilliana Jones has got more on her hands than she can deal with, she is continuing Year 12 and that's her soul focus. On top of that, she is desperately denying the fact that her parents are fighting a lot more than usual, trying to keep the somewhat existent peace that remains in her life. When she has the opportunity to go on holidays to Byron Bay as she does every year, she takes the opportunity to kick back and relax a bit before she must face the HSC and all her assignments and school again.

Enter Josh Stevenson, rude, intolerable, devastatingly handsome yet weirdly intellectual, evident from the Shakespeare he seems to quote. Ever since he hit her in her back with a soccer ball and called her the 'dipshit' Lily finds herself loathing him for more than one reason.

Upon her return to school, she has finalised plans. Finally to get out of her over-achieving brother's shadow and get a kick-ass ATAR score. But no, not even this can happen smoothly, for she finds out that her best friend and her brother have started DATING. This is the worst form of punishment for Lily, yeah she may have forgotten to tap on with her Opal card on the train a few times, doing something illegal, but this punishment has gone too far.

In a desperate attempt to regain some form of control over her life, she seeks out Josh, who coincidentally reappears in her life, eager to ask a massive favour as payback to her brother. She wants him to be her fake boyfriend. Why he agrees to do so, she will never know.

All that she now has to learn is that there is a very thin line between fantasy and reality.
