The theory of Reincarnation states that you go through many lives trying to reach a higher level of conciousness. You recycle mistakes and try to learn with every passing life time to become one with the universe.

Many people believe that within reincarnation your soul stays bound to others through all lifetimes. These souls bound to yours always change roles, creating different levels of attachment in each life time.
