There was a barber and his wife, and she was beautiful... A foolish barber and his wife, she was his reason and his life, and she was beautiful, and she was virtuous; and he was naive... As the story goes, after Benjamin Barker fled from prison with a new name, Sweeney Todd, he learns from his neighbor Mrs. Nellie Lovett that his wife had poisoned herself and his daughter was held captive by the terrible Judge Turpin. Maddened by the continual loss of everything he cared about, Sweeney accepted Mrs. Lovett's request for a new ingredient in her meat pie recipe, due to the difficulty of managing a proper business these days. Together, the two picked off the streets of London - specifically, Fleet Street - one by one. Sweeney held his razors high, and God save you if you didn't have anyone to come looking for you when you don't come home from the barber's by nightfall. Unfortunately, Nellie may have neglected to inform Mr. Todd of the fact that his wife was, in fact, still alive; something the poor man only discovered after he slaughtered her by accident in his haste to kill the judge who sent him to Botany Bay 15 years previous. Sweeney was broken, and Nellie knew it; she wished she had never deceived him. As he led their waltz toward the fireplace, Nellie knew what was coming, but she did nothing to try to stop him; she knew she deserved it. Burning alive, she was left with only one thought yet to be consumed by the flames: "I remember that night; I just might regret that night for the rest of my days..." Bringing the world to a grinding halt, Nellie awoke in darkness, in her old bed - the one she had before Mr. Todd showed up. With time turned back, can Nellie repair what she had damaged in time to live a happy life as a loving wife, or will she fall victim to greed and try once again to keep dear Sweeney all to herself? All Rights Reserved
